Holy Echmiadzin urges to stop Azerbaijan’s militaristic policy

Holy Echmiadzin made a statement today addressed to "mediator countries involved in the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, international community and spiritual leaders of the region demanding to take measures to stop Azerbaijan’s militaristic policy”.

The congregation held with the blessing of Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin the Second in the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin on June 4-10 made a statement on the recent incidents on Armenia-Azerbaijan border which particularly reads:

“We are deeply concerned about the cases of periodic violation of the ceasefire regime on Armenia-Azerbaijan border on the initiative of the Azerbaijani side as a result of which Armenian soldiers and peaceful people are killed or wounded. Over the past days, we witnessed violations of the ceasefire regime when innocent soldiers serving on the Armenian border fell victim to Azerbaijan’s provocation.

The Holy Armenian Apostolic Church and its Patriarch have always expressed their commitment to the peaceful and fair settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.  We strongly condemn the provocative actions of the Azerbaijani side aimed at disturbing the fragile peace in the region”, the statement reads.
