Despite the tense situation and ongoing clashes in Syria, the Syrian-Armenian community is not at risk. This is what member of the Syrian-Armenian community Nazaret Elmajian told “ArmenPress”. According to him, there is no threat to the local Armenians, but the overall tense situation is having its impact on them.

Elmajian mentioned that some members of the Syrian-Armenian community have already applied for Armenian citizenship and many are already ready to take that step. As for the Syrian-Armenians leaving the country, Elmajian added that very few Armenians have left Syria, but there is a fear that that number may grow.

The presses say 15-20 Armenian families have emigrated from Syria, and four Armenians have died since the intensification of the interior political situation, reports “ArmenPress”.
