Signature collection to return the fragments of Goddess Anahit’s monument starts
The Youth Fund of Armenia initiates a collection of signatures for returning the fragments of the monument to Goddess Anahit which are now kept in the British Museum in London.
The Fund’s message sent to ambassadors of Great Britain to Armenia Catherine Leach and James Aves particularly reads:
“There are numerous artworks, pieces of Armenian culture, in the museums of the world today. Among these values are the bronze head and the arm of Goddess Anahit, which are kept in the British Museum. We urge to return the fragments of the monument to Armenia, since the historical values should be kept in the country where they were created.”
In the message to ambassadors, the Fund expresses gratitude to Great Britain for preserving and saving the Armenian cultural heritage from the Turkish vandalism. “Nevertheless, the historical justice demands that the fragments of Goddess Anahit’s statue be returned to the motherland and kept there. We believe Great Britain will respect our imitative and return the monument’s fragments.”
